Big Data

What is Big Data?

Big data refers to a large volume of structured and unstructured data that inundates an organization on a day-to-day basis. This data is generated from a variety of sources, including social media, web applications, online transactions, sensors, and mobile devices.

The term "big data" is typically used to describe data sets that are so large and complex that traditional data processing methods and tools are inadequate to handle them. This data may also be characterized by the "3Vs": Volume (the sheer amount of data), Velocity (the speed at which data is generated and needs to be processed), and Variety (the different types and sources of data).

The goal of analyzing big data is to extract useful insights and information that can be used to make better decisions, improve operations, and ultimately drive business value. This requires specialized tools and technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and NoSQL databases, as well as data scientists and analysts with advanced skills in statistics, machine learning, and data visualization.
